Liverpool defender Agger: Carroll answered his critics

Liverpool defender Dan Agger feels Andy Carroll answered his critics with his Wembley winner on Saturday.

Carroll sent Liverpool into the FA Cup final with a late header against Everton.

"It's a good feeling and to reach a final is always a big achievement," Agger said. "I think we did well to beat them. At half-time the manager said 'just carry on'.

"He told us to keep producing chances and try to get a goal or two. We went out there and we did it. It doesn't matter who scores but we're all delighted for Andy. It was a great cross from Bellamy and we know Andy is a big guy who is good in the air. He was in the right place to put it away.

"Criticism is normal in football. You have to produce your best every time otherwise you will get criticism.

"Andy showed today that he's got great potential.

"To score a winner in such a big game so late on was a great feeling for him.

"Now there's a big desire in the squad to go on and win the FA Cup. The final is going to be special."
