Liverpool are in contact with Real Madrid for midfielder Asier Illarramendi.

The People says Liverpool have asked Real to keep them informed over Illarramendi's situation.

Boss Carlo Ancelotti has admitted the player doesn't feature in his plans and that has alerted Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, as well as David Moyes at the player's former club, Real Sociedad.

Interestingly, Illarramendi was jeered by home fans during yesterday's 1-1 draw with Villarreal after replacing the popular Isco.
