Liverpool commercial chief Ian Ayre insists the appointment of Steve Clarke is no short-term signing.
Clarke was named Reds assistant manager to the end of the season yesterday.
On whether his stay could be prolonged at the end of the season, Ayre said: "Steve is with us until the end of the season and we're discussing with him about the long-term."
Clarke will act as Kenny Dalglish's No2.
