Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard admits he came close to choosing Everton as his team as a young lad growing up.
He was five when the two clubs met in the 1986 FA Cup final and he considered declaring himself a Blue when Gary Lineker fired Everton ahead.
But Gerrard recalled: "I was a little bit unsure at first around the age of five or six whether I was going to be a Blue or a Red.
"In the 1986 FA Cup final when [Gary] Lineker scored I was swaying towards the Blues slightly but then the Reds turned it round and won 3-1.
"From that moment on I was always going to be a Red and the dream was always to follow in the foot steps of the players I was watching."
