Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is casting his net wide to find a replacement for Jamie Carragher.

Carragher will hang up the boots at the end of the season.

The Daily Mail says Rodgers' priority is defence with Carragher retiring and Martin Skrtel unsettled.

He is a fan of Swansea's Ashley Williams and Tottenham's Steven Caulker but their valuations are high. Liverpool have also watched Stefan de Vrij at Feyenoord and Sevilla's Federico Fazio.
