Liverpool boss Rodgers: 2-goal Sterling proved commitment

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers says Raheem Sterling's goalscoring performance last night should end doubts over his commitment.

Sterling struck twice in their Capital One Cup win over Derby County.

Rodgers is unhappy with what he perceives as negative attention towards Sterling, who caused a row by saying he was 'too tired' to play for England earlier this season.

The former QPR ace has been linked with the likes of Bayern Munich but Rodgers hopes he will be staying at Anfield.

"Raheem is a kid that seems to be getting a lot of stick," the Kop boss added. "But his contract situation is nothing to do with him - his representatives are working with the club. You can see he's happy.

"He was terrific. I hope it is a lucky haircut. He looked about 12."
