Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is convinced that the signing of Steven Caulker will more than ease his side's injury woes.
The Reds have signed the 24-year-old centre-half on loan from QPR after his temporary spell with Southampton was ended prematurely.
Caulker has been lured to Anfield as the Merseyside club deals with injuries to Martin Skrtel, Dejan Lovren and Joe Gomez with Mamadou Sakho and Kolo Toure also under fitness clouds and Klopp has highlighted the importance of brining such a player in for support.
“In our situation, four weeks ago we didn't know we'd have a problem with centre-halves because they were all in the race," he told the club's official website.
“At the start of the season, Joe Gomez was also in the squad, so a fifth centre-half - and then the situation changed completely.
“Now, we've had to make a decision whether we wanted to get another player for the position.
“We looked for Premier League experience because in this short time, you need that experience.
“And we've found it with Steven Caulker. We are absolutely convinced that Steven is the best solution for us."
Caulker will go straight into Klopp's squad for Wednesday's Premier League clash with Arsenal at Anfield.
