Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says Joel Matip will be offered a new contract.
Matip's current deal expires in June with his season in danger after suffering a knee injury.
Klopp said today: "I'm pretty sure the club will show its class, just how they should do it.
"I'm pretty sure the club told him that whatever happens. We have to make the decision together with Joel on how it looks after his injury, but it's a normal thing to do. He deserves all the support from us and he will get it."
On whether Matip will be offered a new contract, Klopp added: "I will say so, but it's not my decision on it. I cannot sign the papers."
