Liverpool boss Klopp explains Van Dijk Brentford substitution

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has explained Virgil van Dijk's substitution against Brentford in the Premier League.

The Reds were stunned away from home on Monday, as they lost 3-1 to the Bees.

Van Dijk was replaced at half time, when the Reds were already 2-0 down, with commentators speculating that it was a tactical decision.

Klopp explained to beIN Sports: “Virgil felt the hamstring a little bit.

“He said he is fine, but when I said we don't take any risks, the physios were quite happy with that.

“I think it is nothing serious, but that's why we changed him.

“In the other two positions, we wanted to have fresh legs and different skillsets."
