Liverpool boss Klopp admits being impressed by Burnley

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says Burnley pushed them hard for Saturday's 3-1 win.

The Reds eventually took control as Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez struck to take the game away from Burnley.

But Klopp said: "They did, absolutely. It's Premier League and Burnley's quality. I like a lot of what they do, how they play and how calm Vincent Kompany is so early in his career. He is a top manager in the making obviously. He's willing to learn the hard way but still have this positive approach.

"It was super difficult today. We lost so many players two weeks ago and now, then Trent Alexander-Arnold has to go off at half-time. We have to see what's going on there. Curtis Jones had to go right-back and had never played there his entire life! He did so well. We scored these wonderful goals. Harvey Elliott came on and had a real impact. Top performances. We did really well it was just a difficult one.

"People think we go through with no real effort but that was never possible. It was a good afternoon. It was not a great moment to concede the goal but the good things was besides the first 15 minutes, we controlled some super situations.

"Burnley gave problems and we had to score at the right moments. We needed Caoimhín Kelleher as it was a really good game for him. He was calm on the ball for us.

"It's not only the three points. You cannot have momentum guaranteed all the time. Nine days ago we played incredible against Chelsea then we lost to Arsenal. It's always a different challenge. If it's not clicking straight away, fight through it. It was really tough today but the boys fought through and got three points."
