Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has hailed the leadership of Dirk Kuyt.
The Dutch attacker signed a new deal with the Reds yesterday.
Kuyt has established himself as a popular figure both on the Kop and in the dressing room, with his work rate and positive attitude endearing himself to both supporters and teammates alike.
The No.18 has also embraced the culture and history of the club - and Dalglish believes he's an important figure to have in the squad.
"The players get on very well with Dirk," Dalglish told liverpoolfc.tv. "He's very good in and around the dressing room. He loves a conversation and it's good to have people like that.
"He knows what the club stands for and understands it - and the club understand him. He's a valuable asset for us to have.
"As I said, it's good for us to have continuity. He's continuing on here and we hope he's going to contribute to the success of the football club going forward."
