Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez praised Steven Gerrard for not reacting to Marseille's yob fans during last night's 1-0 Champions League win.

Gerro, who headed a 23rd-minute winner, was struck in the chest by a cigarette lighter.

But Gerrard just rubbed his chest and got on with the game.

Benitez said: "Steven handled it very well. He's a great professional, everyone knows that. This is something that the UEFA delegates will need to take note of."
