Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez admits Dirk Kuyt's goals record suffers because of the amount of work he does for his teammates.

He told liverpoolfc.tv: "If you analyse the statistics, he could be the only one who has been scoring 20 goals a season for years. In the Dutch League he did it, so he is capable of it. But sometimes he is working so hard for the team he is sometimes too far away from the box.

"I said to him not to worry about this because if you are doing something for the team, that is more important. But the strikers all want to score goals so if he can do that I will be really pleased. People say he missed chances against Blackburn and opportunities in other games, but he was in there trying to score because he is a player who can score goals.

"His best position is as a centre forward with another one behind or alongside a target man."
