Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez says new signings Andrea Dossena and Philipp Degen will feature in Saturday's friendly against Tranmere Rovers.

"The first game is always different because you don't have all of your players available," said Benitez. "Some players could be involved for the first time, the likes of Andrea Dossena and Philipp Degen.

"But my idea is to use the senior players I have available and some of the younger players who have been working with us.

"We do not have the Spanish players because they won Euro 2008 and so will come back later.

"We need to check on Gerrard and we need to check on Voronin but the players who we have signed will be available and they will play."
