Liverpool, Arsenal target Alderweireld: I won't leave Ajax to sit on bench

Ajax skipper Toby Alderweireld admits he's up for a "new challenge".

The Belgian has been linked with a move to England, where Arsenal and Liverpool are keen.

"Of course I want a new challenge," said the defender. "I'm 24 years old and have played about twenty (international) matches. Whether I'm afraid to end up at a top club? I'm very selective, I don't want to sit on the bench.

"I'm not going to Manchester City because I know they have Kompany there. On the other hand, if a club pays a lot for me, they will not use me as nineteenth man, I think. "
