Lippi rules out Guangzhou move for Juventus icon Del Piero

Guangzhou Evergrande boss Marcello Lippi has made it clear that he is not looking to bring Alessandro Del Piero to the Asian champions.

The former Italy boss, who led the Azzurri to victory at the 2006 World Cup, has been linked with a reunion with the ex-Juventus star who is currently contracted to A-League club Sydney FC.

But Lippi says the Chinese Super League title-holders are not in pursuit of the 39-year old veteran who continues to enjoy his football just like former Italy teammate and AS Roma ace Francesco Totti.

"I can't sign Del Piero as the club doesn't want to buy players over 30-31 years old so I don't think he'll be able to come and play for us," Lippi told reporters.

"The great thing about Del Piero and Totti is that they still enjoy being footballers and they are not thinking about when they will finish. We are lucky to have players like that."
