Lingard missed Forest friendly defeat to Stoke

Jesse Lingard missed Nottingham Forest's friendly defeat to Stoke City on Friday.

Forest lost 2-1 at Loughborough University Stadium.

Lingard was absent through illness, says the Nottingham Post.

It is not clear whether he will recover in time to travel to Greece for Forest's training camp and back-to-back friendlies.

Speaking about the World Cup break last month, Lingard said: "It's obviously different to have a World Cup in winter, in the middle of the domestic season. As a Nottingham Forest player, it's annoying that it came as we were gaining some momentum.

"But strange things happen all the time in football and as a player you adapt. Ask any player whether they want to be at this World Cup and the vast majority will say bring it on."
