Lingard and Wilson will not be considered for Man Utd clash with Ipswich

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has revealed that he will not be using young duo Jesse Lingard and James Wilson for the upcoming Capital One Cup clash against Ipswich Town.

Following a hectic round of fixtures, most Premier League managers use the League Cup to allow their fringe and younger players to earn some minutes on the pitch.

Even United boss van Gaal is expected to make a raft of changes to his squad when they welcome Championship side Ipswich to Old Trafford to contest the third round Capital One clash on Wednesday night but the Dutchman has surprisingly gone on to reveal that he will not be using promising attacking pair Lingard and Wilson who impressed for the U21s this week.

Speaking to reporters, van Gaal said: "I don't need them so they can have a day off and then Thursday they will be fresh and can train."
