Tottenham and England legend Gary Lineker questions whether Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand can make the World Cup.

In his column for the Mail on Sunday, Lineker wrote: "Ferdinand, who last night made his comeback from the injury that stopped him taking over as England's new captain, still worries me. His back seems to flare up regularly and without warning, not ideal in a 23-man squad where replacements can't be brought in.

"He has played so few games there must be serious doubts about whether the skipper will be able to lead his team in South Africa. Will he be there? My heart says Yes, my head says No at the moment."
