Scotland coach Craig Levein has insisted Scottish players at Rangers will still be in contention for international selection. Levein named no players from the Division Three club in his squad for the friendly against Australia.
Full-back Lee Wallace was the only current Rangers player who was expected to be in contention but his place seems to have gone to Southampton defender Daniel Fox.
Levein said of his exclusion: "Lee Wallace is a good example and I wouldn't close the door on him at all.
"The best scenario is for players to be playing at the top level to play international football. It makes it so much easier to step from one to the other."
