Leicester using cryotherapy methods to aid recovery

Leicester City are using cryotherapy to aid the recovery of tired and injured players as the season draws towards a close.

The Foxes have been entangled in a relegation battle all season but have won five of their last six games to move up to the 16th position.

Part of their improvement is down to a cutting edged cryotherapy chamber which helps quicken recovery process after matches.

The chamber utilises a store of liquid nitrogen and players acclimatize in the chamber at a temperature of minus-60 degrees centigrade for 30 seconds before moving to another compartment which is set at minus-135, where they stay for two minutes.

Striker Jamie Vardy confirmed that the treatment has been vital in keeping him fit.

"We work very closely with the medical staff here," said Vardy.

"We've had a cryotherapy station at the training ground and we've been non-stop in it.

"We were straight in it after the game against Chelsea last Wednesday night and then twice again on Thursday and again on Friday.

"It's just to make sure that we were all fully fit for the game against Newcastle, and the performance showed that we all were."
