The Manchester Evening News says Thorpe seems set to leave the club in the summer.
His teammate, Sean Goss, wished Thorpe 'all the best' on Instagram after the U21s' final game of the season ended in defeat at neighbours Manchester City.
Thorpe is being liked with Leicester City.
