Leicester City are currently involved in talks with Sporting Lisbon for the transfer of striker Islam Slimani, according to the BBC.

The Portuguese club value the 28-year-old at £34.1million, but the Foxes are not prepared to match the asking price and are trying to negotiate a lower transfer fee.

Despite purchasing Ahmed Musa for a club-record £16m earlier in the summer, Claudio Ranieri is eager to further strengthen his attack and is willing to spend up on Slimani.

The Algeria international scored 27 league goals for his club last season and is believed to be keen to link up with national teammate Riyad Mahrez at King Power Stadium.
