Leicester City fullback Ricardo Pereira admits he was shocked by the extent of his knee injury upon first hearing the news.

Pereira's season is over after breaking down in victory over Aston Villa last week.

He posted to social media: "I never thought that this could happen to me, but certainly no one thinks that. The result of the exam was a shock, since nothing predicted an injury of this severity.

Pereira is facing 4-6 months out due to the ACL setback.

"I have no doubt that I will turn things around, especially with the help of those closest to me and of all of you who support me. Thank you very much for the numerous messages of support and for your affection," he added.
