Leicester City fullback Ritchie de Laet has welcomed competition from former QPR defender Danny Simpson.
The pair were teammates at Manchester United.
"It is good to have Danny on board," De Laet told The Sentinel.
"It keeps me sharp in training. As long as I do well in games and in training then, hopefully, I will get picked.
"It is up to the gaffer (Nigel Pearson) who he picks and if he wants to change it he can now, but I have the shirt at the moment and as long as I do well it is mine."
