Leicester boss Rodgers: Gray must fight for place

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has explained the absence of Demarai Gray for their draw with Wolves.

Gray failed to make the starting 11 or the bench, with James Maddison playing wide along with Ayoze Perez, and Marc Albrighton and Harvey Barnes on the bench.

"It's going to be a very competitive squad and he was unfortunate because he has worked well over the course of pre-season," said Rodgers.

"But now there is a challenge which is what we want. We need competition if we are going to improve as a squad and as a team.

"And it's unfortunate for a player of his quality that he hasn't been on the bench, but he will give the right reaction.

"He knows what he needs to work on. I have spoken to him and he will continue to work and to fight for a place."
