Leeds whiz Gnonto: Di Canio praise makes me really proud

Leeds United youngster Wilfried Gnonto says it was a proud moment for him to receive praise from Paolo Di Canio.

The teenager was praised by the Italian former footballer, who played for West Ham United in the Premier League.

Gnonto scored a scissor kick volley against Cardiff City in the FA Cup in January, which was similar to Di Canio's goal against Wimbledon in 2000.

"No I think Di Canio's was better," Gnonto told BBC.

"He is a legend. I didn't expect it. He was really nice. He was like, 'I'm really happy for what you're doing. Keep going and stuff like this'.

"It made me really proud. When I was younger I used to watch all his videos, and I was like 'wow'. Getting praise from him was something incredible for me and for my family.

"He said I have to stop scoring goals like this because they keep messaging him."
