Leeds Utd showing significant interest in want-away Bournemouth striker Tokelo Rantie

Leeds United have expressed an interest in signing Bournemouth's want-away striker Tokelo Rantie, according to the player's former coach Farouk Khan.

The 25-year-old striker, who joined the Cherries in 2013, has fallen down the pecking order on the south coast and managed only one league appearance last season.

Khan revealed that the South Africa international has not joined the Cherries on their pre-season tour of USA and is currently working on his fitness in his native country.

Khan, who worked with Rantie at the Stars of Africa Academy, also told Times Media Digital that Garry Monk's Leeds are showing interest in the disgruntled attacker.

"At the moment he is in South Africa working in the gym‚ but that is not really good enough to stay in peak condition," he said.

"And there are some very decent clubs in Europe who are interested in signing him‚ Leeds United being just one of them."

"He seems to be very much of the opinion that he should come home‚ but I personally think he is good enough to play in Europe.

"Bournemouth have been asking him to come back [for pre-season] and eventually I think he will have to succumb because he is under contract with them and will start incurring heavy fines."
