But still Leeds kept coming forward roared on by their 4,000 travelling supporters.
And in the sixth minute of stoppage time they earned their just reward.
Beckford tried to wriggle past Michael Dawson who brought him down, although there was a slight hint the ball had been played first.
Referee Alan Wiley had no hesitation in pointing to the spot and Beckford converted easily from 18 yards for a replay at Elland Road.
