Andy O'Brien has been reinstated by ChampionshipLeeds United after he was banished for refusing to play against Burnley. The experienced defender opted out of the Whites' 2-1 win over the Clarets in November, actions that brought about disciplinary action.
It has now been revealed O'Brien has sought specialist medical treatment at the Sporting Chance Clinic for depression and Leeds now say he is back in training and available for selection.
"It is now apparent that there were a number of issues that he was dealing with at that time which affected him in a way we could not imagine and he was not in a right state of mind to make such decisions.
"On this basis we believe he deserves a second chance and we will do everything we can to assist him." "We were exceptionally disappointed when Andy refused to play before the Burnley game and felt let down," read a statement on the club's official website.
