Lee Clark is keen to return to Newcastle United.

The Evening Chronicle says Newcastle have had contact with former Toon midfielder and Birmingham, Blackpool and Huddersfield boss Clark over a possible coaching role on Tyneside.

Clark has worked at St James' Park before and was part of the reserve set-up which saw Andy Carroll and Tim Krul promoted to the senior squad.

Steve McClaren is expected to be confirmed as new manager next week.
