Former Newcastle United captain Lee Clark has spoken of the day he was sacked by Birmingham City.
The Blythe Spartans manager says there were a lot of tears on day.
He told BirminghamLive, “On the day I was prepping the team to go to Blackburn, we'd trained in the morning, done the press conference.
“I was playing head tennis outside and I saw my secretary Rita [Greenaway] come over and I saw she had tears in her eyes and I knew straight away.
“She said I needed to go to St Andrew's with [assistant] Steve Watson, I knew what was coming.
“It was a very emotional time when I sat with Jo Allsopp and Julia Shelton, who were two brilliant people and they told me my contract was being terminated.
“I shed a few tears because I loved the area, my family loved the area, I loved the club, I worked ever so hard, wanted the club to succeed, the players were doing everything they could for us. It was a very emotional afternoon. A sad day for us."
