Jesus Navas believes a Manchester City win in this weekend's Capital One Cup final can be the catalyst for more glory to come.
City take on Liverpool in the League Cup decider at Wembley on Sunday and the Spanish attacking midfielder is expecting a positive result to turn their momentum around in the Premier League where they have fallen to fourth, six points behind league leaders Leicester City.
"It would be fantastic to win this trophy, we are involved in the Premier League title race and it would set us fair for rest of the season," Navas, who win the 2014 PremierLeague/League Cup double with City, told Sky Sports.
"It is important to win as many as we can. [In 2014] it almost relaxed us to go on and challenge for more that season.
"It was a confidence boost, and gave us extra motivation to go on and win the title that year."
He added: "Other important games follow, but first we must concentrate on this final.
"Our manager (Manuel Pellegrini) is focused, prepares well and is very demanding and will do it again for this final."
