John Terry was over the moon after holding aloft the Capital One Cup with Chelsea on Sunday.
The Blues captain scored in the 2-0 win over Tottenham at Wembley to clinch the west London club's fifth League Cup which prompted positive words from the centre-half.
"A few teams over the years have written this competition off but it has always been close to my heart, and to be in this great stadium lifting this trophy is a really great feeling," Terry told chelseafc.com after winning the League Cup for the third time.
He also added that Jose Mourinho's squad is in very good shape at present with a deadly mix of youthful enthusiasm and the level-headedness of the more practiced players.
"The squad is moving in the right direction with some young players and hungry and experienced players as well, it is a great mix," he added.
