Lazio make contact with Liverpool striker Balotelli

Lazio have made a move for Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli.

Balotelli's agent, Mino Raiola, has been in Italy this week speaking with clubs about several of his clients - including the Reds striker.

Sportsmediaset says Lazio president Claudio Lotito has sounded out Raiola about Balotelli's situation and the prospect of him moving to Rome this month.

Lotito is interested in taking Balotelli on a free loan - without any purchase option - where Liverpool would cover 30-40 per cent of the player's wages.

Any return to Italy, however, will depend on Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers locating a replacement before the winter market shuts.
