Lazio coach Vladimir Petkovic will take charge of Switzerland after the World Cup.
Petkovic expects to remain in charge of Lazio through to the end of this season.
"I am proud of the confidence the Swiss Football Association have placed in me," he told the Swiss official website.
"I am also proud of the fact that I can guide this formidable team - my second home.
"I am convinced that we can achieve our goals at Lazio this season. The team is doing very well and I'm sure sooner or later we will come in for some luck.
"I want to assure people that I am not overlooking Lazio in the slightest."
