Laudrup named new coach of Real Mallorca

Michael Laudrup has been named new coach of Real Mallorca.

Much will be expected of Laudrup after an impressive season at Getafe in 2007-08, which saw him take the minnows to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup and the final of the Copa del Rey, all the while playing a brand of exciting, attacking football.

However, the Denmark legend insists how well the team do is very much down to the players' ambitions.

"I'm very happy to be at Mallorca and also to return to La Liga, which is the league in which they practice the best football," said Laudrup as he was unveiled. "I'm delighted to be on the island.

"It's not up to me to say the aims of the team. It has to be up to the players to set them and be convinced of them."
