Portland Timbers have secured the services of Diego Valeri as a Designated Player.
The 26-year old Argentine playmaker has joined the Timbers on loan from homeland club Lanus and will occupy an international roster spot once he receives his P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
"Valeri is a tremendous acquisition and his desire to join the Portland Timbers was an integral part in getting him on loan," Timbers general manager Gavin Wilkinson said in a statement.
"At his age and with his ability, we expect to be in a position to purchase this player and make him a permanent fixture in Portland."
Valeri, who appeared 158 times for Lanus since his debut in 2003, joins striker Kris Boyd and midfielder Diego Chara as the Timbers' three Designated Players.
