Frank Lampard hailed Manchester City's character for victory over Champions League opponents Bayern Munich.
Lampard played a key role in the five-goal thriller.
"It was a result for us when they went down to 10 men because they move the ball so well and they carried on doing that.
"But a lot of credit to us, I enjoyed being part of the performance. It was an amazing night.
"It is imperative for a club like Manchester City to get through the group stage. We are all aware with the ability in the squad we should qualify.
"We know we could or should have won the two games against CSKA. It was up to us to turn that corner against Bayern.
"We haven't been playing so well lately, no one is going to lie about that, but sometimes you have to grit it out and get your results and we did that against Bayern.
"Our backs were against the wall but we showed a lot of fighting spirit and we have a world-class striker up front."
