Lampard: 13 straight wins required for any chance of Chelsea regaining title

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard is urging the Blues to claim maximum points from their final 13 games to have any chance of regaining the Premier League title. Chelsea currently occupy fifth spot in the table, 13 points behind leaders Manchester United, and a final points tally of 83, as well as their title rivals slipping up, might just be enough.

"We know we can get back into the picture," he said. "It will take a huge effort because we need to win all our games and hope other clubs slip up.

"We can't afford to think about United too much. Our aim is to get a run of wins together so that we can close the gap before we play them.

"It will only swing our way if we can get it down to around six points before we play them."

Despite the long odds on Chelsea retaining their crown the Blue dressing room does not lack for ambition.

"The desire is still there in the dressing room, there is no doubt about that," the former West Ham United man added.

"Winning things is like a drug. When we win Premier League titles and FA Cups we want to keep that feeling of success.

"The players are fully aware that we had a terrible run during November, December and even into January. Football seasons can be like that.

"This is the moment when the big players and the big personalities stand up. The two games against Manchester United will be massive, but whether they will decide the title or not, I don't know."
