Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert is chasing Leeds United winger Robert Snodgrass.
The Mirror says Snodgrass has only one year left on his Elland Road contract. Lambert managed him at Livingston and twice failed to sign the 24-year-old for Norwich.
With a transfer fund of around £20million, he knows he must find value for money.
