Lallana: Chelsea pair Cole, Lampard must go to World Cup

Southampton skipper Adam Lallana says Chelsea pair Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole should make England's World Cup squad.

Neither veteran is a first-choice for Blues boss Jose Mourinho.

But Lallana told the London Evening Standard: "They have a vital role. They have experienced World Cups and European Championships.

"It would be very useful to have Frank and Ashley in the squad. They have so much experience and being around them helps the younger players, not just by their involvement on the pitch, but also the guidance they can give to the ones who haven't played as much.

"Their ability speaks for itself and is enough of a reason for them to be there. The fact they can provide so much more is an extra bonus.

"They've both got more than 100 caps and that proves what exceptional players they are and what great careers they've had. To get more than 100 caps is a remarkable achievement. It's going to be a tough squad to nail down but everyone will be very supportive of each other no matter who's in it."
