Lacklustre Chelsea held at home by Everton

The two FA Cup finalists Chelsea and Everton battled out a scoreless stalemate at Stamford Bridge. This result all but ends Chelsea's outside chance of the title as Everton looked the more likely scorers as the Blues produced a less than convincing performance.

Didier Drogba hit the woodwork in injury time for the home side but the visitors had the better chances with Jo twice going close and Leighton Baines having a good penalty shout turned down.

But overall the Toffees deserved a share of the spoils for their resolute performance.

Everton boss David Moyes said: "I thought we played extraordinarily well, passed it beautifully and made a few chances, as well as having a good shout for a penalty.

"You come to Chelsea and you know it'll be a tough game and they made it hard for us at times in the second half, so you can't be too disappointed with a draw.

"They have other fish to fry with the Champions League and so on so maybe they had their eye off the ball this evening, but we certainly didn't and I'm happy with how we did against them."

Chelsea chief Guus Hiddink admitted his side's chances of claiming the Premier League title were over.

He told Sky Sports: "It's near the end, let's be honest and face the facts.

"They (Manchester United) had their win as expected and as we said beforehand we cannot waste any points which we did tonight that's why I think it's finished for us at this moment.

"We worked hard but we did not work properly in using the width," he explained.

"I think they were well-organised defensively and they played a good counter to be honest but we didn't have the intelligence to break through their massive defence.

"A loss of two points is always frustrating at home. But the way we played was not good, we were pushing, pushing but sometimes we have to push a little bit more with more intelligence.

"Mathematically we still have a chance but let's be honest and realistic," he added.

"I think we have to focus ourselves now on the two others (FA Cup and Champions League)."
