LA Galaxy wary of Seattle's Montero ahead of first kick

Ahead of tonight's first kick for the 2011 MLS season, LA Galaxy are remaining cautious of Seattle Sounders star Fredy Montero.

The Sounders host the Galaxy at Qwest Field in the season opener and the Colombian is one player who Bruce Arena's men will have to be wary of.

According to Galaxy defender Todd Dunivant, Montero is the man the LA club need to stop if they want to kick-off their 2011 with a positive result away from home.

"He's the ultimate goal-poacher," Dunivant said. "Especially on set pieces and that sort of thing.

"He can turn on a dime and find little spots, but he's always poaching out goals and finding little seams. The second you switch off, he's right there to smash it in.

"He's done that to us a few times. He's kind of the total package."

But Arena kept the goal-poacher tag for his new recruit Juan Pablo Angel and said his players would have to watch Montero wherever he is and not just around goal.

"I would say Juan Pablo Angel is more of [a goal poacher]," Arena said. "Fredy's a playmaker as well, and probably has more dimensions as an attacking player just sitting in front of the goal and sniffing out opportunities. He's a fabulous player.

"Wherever he is on the field we've gotta be aware of him."
