LA Galaxy, Toronto FC were also keen on Seattle Sounders new boy Dempsey

Reports suggest that MLS champions LA Galaxy as well as Toronto FC were both showing significant interest in Clint Dempsey prior to his move to the Seattle Sounders.

The 30-year old USA international left Tottenham to sign with Seattle on a four-year deal worth $32million on the weekend and he wasn't short of admirers elsewhere in MLS.

Sports Illustrated's Grant Wahl suggested that both the Galaxy and TFC were keen but couldn't get a deal done.

"Los Angeles and Toronto were also interested in ponying up for Dempsey, multiple sources said, but Toronto (which is working on its own Designated Player deals) accepted that it was better for the league if Dempsey were playing in a US city," he reported.
