Landon Donovan is not giving too much thought to the all-time Major League Soccer scoring title.
The LA Galaxy star has scored 134 MLS goals during his successful career which has him even at the top of the scoring charts with former Columbus Crew, Real Salt Lake and FC Dallas striker Jeff Cunningham.
Donovan will have the opportunity to become sole leader when the Galaxy kick off their 2014 MLS campaign against RSL this weekend but the former San Jose Earthquakes, Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich and Everton forward does not have the potential record at the forefront of his ambitions.
"To be honest, I don't think about it until it's brought up," Donovan told MLSsoccer.com last week.
"There's a good chance I'll forget before the game starts. There's no guarantee you're ever going to score.
"Is it important? Yeah, it is. It means something to me. But I'll be glad when it's over, to be honest, so I can just get back to focusing."
As for how the imminent record-breaking goal will come about, USA national team ace Donovan insisted that he was not too bothered.
"I don't really care, to be honest," he added. "I guess it's going to happen at some point. Honest as I can be, it's not on my mind at all."
