LA Galaxy captain Robbie Keane has revealed that he spoke with the Colorado Rapids regarding the possible signing of a new striker.
Republic of Ireland international Keane admitted he was asked by Rapids head coach Pablo Mastroeni, a former Galaxy teammate, that his fellow compatriot Kevin Doyle would be a great fit for the Denver club.
It is believed that English Championship club Wolves are set to offload Doyle soon and it is likely that he will end up at Colorado courtesy of Keane's recommendation.
"I got a call from the Rapids manager, Pablo," Keane told the Irish press in Dublin yesterday.
"I used to play with him at Galaxy, so he asked me about Kevin. I highly recommended Kevin to him.
"He would certainly do well over there. If he goes over there, it will be great for him. It will be great for the league, great for him, and I told Pablo that you could not wish to have a better person.
"He's a great guy off the pitch, works hard, works his socks off on the pitch, and is a handful.
"Kevin scores goals, so he would be perfect for them. If he goes to MLS I will be delighted to have him over there."
