LA Galaxy midfielder Juninho has revealed his yearning to represent the USA national team.
The 26-year old Brazilian has been in the States since 2010 and insists he wants to pursue the possibility of playing for his adopted country rather than his home nation.
"I have expressed my desire to play for the US national team," Juninho told Globoesporte.com.
"I think the US national team is closer (for me) than the Brazilian national team because of the five years I've been there (in the US) and because of the knowledge I have of the league and the players.
"I've played a long time with Landon Donovan and he always opened my mind and this possibility is not too distant."
The Sao Jose dos Campos-born Juninho, who has won three MLS Cups with the Galaxy, obtained his Green Card in 2013 but is yet to commence his US Citizenship application process.
