LA Galaxy's Donovan understands US team are still learning

LA Galaxy star Landon Donovan knows that the USA national team still has a lot to learn. Despite being in a strong position to qualify for next year's World Cup, Team USA still need to record more points to secure their berth and they can come against Honduras on October 10.

Donovan knows that a trip to South Africa is just around the corner but hopes the young squad are able to leasrn much more in the lead-up.

"Sometimes you get frustrated and you want us to handle things more maturely, but then you realize what we're dealing with," the midfielder said.

"The hope is that we're learning a lot, we can still get through qualifying, and when the World Cup comes we're better for it."

Donovan admitted that he didn't really care how the team picked up the points as long as they achieve what they set out to prior to the qualifying rounds.

"It probably won't look much like a typical soccer game," he added. "It will probably be pretty scrappy.

"We've all been in games where you just pummel a team for 90 minutes and they sneak a goal somehow and they end up winning.

"It's not easy. We're going to go with the mentality that that is the game we need to win. If not, it's going to be a little hectic, a little pressure-packed."
