LA Galaxy defender AJ DeLaGarza has been named the 2014 MLS WORKS Humanitarian of the Year.
The 27-year old has landed the prestigious off-field award for the volunteer work he has performed to Los Angeles organisation Camps for Kids and visiting patients at Children's Hospital Los Angeles.
DeLaGarza also unveiled a soccer field in South Los Angeles and was involved in the LA Galaxy Foundation's Annual Golf Tournament, volunteered for the LA Galaxy 5K & Cozmo Family Run and helped raise funds for the LA Galaxy Foundation's involvement in LAFEST, a charity-based soccer tournament held at StubHub Center.
DeLaGarza wins the award from FC Dallas' Zach Lloyd, Portland Timbers' Diego Chara and DC United's Sean Franklin and will donate the $5,000 prize money between the Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) and spcaLA.
